Verizon Literacy Campus

The Verizon Literacy Campus is an online resource for information about the literacy challenges that millions in this country face. The Literacy Campus offers online courses for new and current volunteers on topics ranging from adult learning to selecting and sharing books with children. Program managers will also find courses on a variety of volunteer management issues. The Verizon Literacy Campus is a collaborative project of VerizonReads, Proliteracy USA, and the National Center for Family Literacy. You will need to create a login and password, but most of the courses are free.

LEARNS Online Trainings

The Corporation for National and Community Service and the Northwest Regional Education Laboratory (NWREL) developed a web-based tutor training specifically for child literacy tutors. On this comprehensive site, tutors will learn about reading comprehension, reading in English, and out of school time.

Their website offers online education and trainings on the grantseeking process and the organization of philanthropic and nonprofit groups.

National Mentoring Partnership

The National Mentoring Partnership offers a series of online modules to help new and current mentors learn more about skills related to relationship building, successful mentoring strategies, and the role of parents.

California Adult Literacy Professional (CALPRO) Development Project

CALPRO Professional Development Centers provide training and technical assistance (T/TA) to local California adult education and literacy providers. This T/TA effort supports the continuous improvement of local adult education and literacy programs as they work to provide high quality and effective services to adult learners.
