9/11 Day of Service

The North Carolina LiteracyCorps is taking part in the first official September 11 Day of Service and Remembrance, a day established by President Obama and Congress to honor the sacrifices of 9/11 heroes, and engage more Americans in serving their communities.

The North Carolina LiteracyCorps is collecting materials for “connection packages” to help children of military families connect with their deployed parents or relatives in remembrance of September 11, 2001 and in an effort to engage more North Carolina residents in working to strengthen their communities through out the year. North Carolina LiteracyCorps AmeriCorps members will assemble and deliver these packages to the Burlington National Guard Armory on Friday, September 11, 2009.
