The Early Detection of Reading Difficulties is divided into
two parts. Part One provides for the systematic observation
of young children's responses to classroom reading
instruction. Part Two contains a set of Reading Recovery
procedures for use in an early intervention program with
young children who have difficulty with beginning reading.
The procedures evolve from a three-year research program in
Auckland and a report on the success of Reading Recovery
program in New Zealand. Looking a success and Australia and
Columbus, Ohio, the text demonstrates methods for adapting
the program to local curricula and needs. Includes index.
