Reading

From SCALE I gained an experience that i can always be proud of. Teaching students how to read. I remember my student gave me a thank you letter that said thank you for teaching me and I will always remember that letter.

Congratulations!

We have learned so much during our participation with SCALE. The materials and training have allowed us to provide guidance, direction, and support to our students in the area of service learning. Thank you for your work!

Congratulations on 20 years!!!

Wow, twenty years of promoting literacy throughout the community is a great success!

Fond Memory

I have always admired SCALE for its ability to walk the walk of participatory learning. I particularly and positively remember accompanying a group of adult students from the Durham Literacy Center who were invited to perform a play they had written at a SCALE Conference. I will always value how much an appreciative SCALE audience contributed so positively to the students' well-deserved sense of accomplishment and respect.

Congratulations

SCALE has provided Hidden Voices with an invaluable resource in reaching and engaging our diverse communities. SCALE reinforces the understanding that literacy is far more than just the ability to read; it is the empowering ability to access knowledge and then act on it.
Lynden Harris, Director, Hidden Voices

SCALE Helps!

SCALE does a wonderful job of working both in and with community partners to create effective programs that reach a diverse population. You all provide an invaluable service to the community. Thank you and keep up the good work!

Congratulations, SCALE!

SCALE has been an important part of my professional development, as I have always wanted a career in education that allowed me to be involved in the community. I have had to pleasure to be involved with SCALE since 2007, when I came on as a graduate assistant as a student in the School of Education. I spent a good portion of that fall semester rounding up gift cards and in-kind donations to support the Read.Write.Act. Conference, which that year was held as a traditional, face-to-face event.

My favorite memories from back then have to be from working with LeeAnn to plan National Literacy Action Week 2008. We were able to plan several events at UNC either on campus or in the community throughout the week, while also assisting member campuses with mini-grants and event planning.

What is your best or favorite memory of SCALE?

Charlotte Stewart, SCALEy 2007-present

Celebrating SCALE

SCALE has been a pioneer regionally and nationally in bringing people together to learn about issues of literacy, mentoring, and service. I have grown so much through my participation in SCALE's conferences, grant programs, and learning community. Thank you SCALE!

RE: Congratulations!

I had a chance to work with SCALE more than 15 years ago. As an undergraduate student at UCLA, I was intrigued and motivated by its mission and their dedicated staff. As I strive to have a positive impact on my community, I often look back at my time with SCALE and the lessons I learned from them and with them. Please keep up the great work. Very proud of you and the work you do.
